The School Resource Officer
Program is a collaborative effort by Norwich Police Department, Norwich
Public Schools, students, parents, and the community to offer law related
educational programs in the schools in an effort to reduce crime, drug
abuse, violence, and provide a safe learning environment for everyone.
The program started in
Norwich during the school year 2007/2008. Officer’s trained and certified
through the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) were
placed into the city’s two middle schools (Teachers’ Memorial & Kelly).
The department currently has three certified SRO’s, Officer Kevin Creamer,
Officer Chris Conley and Officer Anthony Gomes.
